Catch 22

I have come to the realization that there is a Catch 22 with blogs. Either you have time to update them, and you aren't doing anything fun; OR you are doing plenty of fun stuff and you don't have time to update your blog. As you may have noticed the later seems to be the case.

Past
Since surfing the bore tide I have participated in the First Annual Six-Mile Fest, had to hike out of a creek attempting to run the second descent, run a bunch of new rivers for me (Ingram, Canyon Creek, and a portion of the South Fork of Montana Creek [which I had to hike out of]), placed 17th in my rookie attempt at Mount Marathon, and surfed my kayak on the ocean in Kodiak.

Present
My job as in intern on the Bridge Scour Project with the USGS has been very enjoyable and a great learning experience. Thankfully it has provided me with enough time to hang out with my girl friend and get in a ton of kayaking. This week I am going to be heading up to Fairbanks to do some measurements on the flooding that has been going on in Salcha and the Upper Chena. Then this weekend I am heading up for the Nenana Wild Water Festival. Thankfully it is going to go off this year, it nearly didn't happen. Which would have been a shame for the longest running whitewater festival in Alaska (30 plus years).

Future
While there is still water running in Alaska I plan on running the Kings River and Upper Ingram Creek. With any luck I will be able to get in to kayak the South Fork of Montana Creek, Upper Willow Creek, and the Kuskalana Gorge. In the second weekend in September I will be competing in a 10 leg relay race from Skagway to Whitehorse called the Klondike Road Relay. I am also starting to make plans to go to India for a few months starting in October.

With any luck I will be able to post a few pictures of what I have been up to and get better about updating my blog. But with an uncooperating computer and most of my time spent playing and recovering from all the playing I have been doing, don't expect an update anytime soon.

Catch ya on the flip side!
